Noh Kyung, the king of the hold in the dark

ㅅ Right-hander Noh Kyung-eun of the SSG Landers in the Korean pro baseball league will be 43 years old next year. Most of them are old enough to come down to the ground and prepare for their second life. However, "retirement" is still a long way off for Noh. With eight wins, five losses and 38 holds with an ERA of 2.90, he became the oldest hold king in the history of Korean baseball. After the season ended, he became a free agent and signed a two-plus-year contract with SSG for a total of 2.5 billion won. The day after winning his first career title at the KBO League regular season award ceremony on the 26th, Noh visited the clubhouse at Landers Field in Incheon without breaking the heavy snow that swept the nation.

-How did it feel to receive an award like "the first time in 22 years".

"Kim Do-young, who was born when I debuted as a professional player, won the MVP award. Seeing a young player receive such a big award makes me reflect on myself. But in a good way, isn't it amazing that I got the award for the first time in 22 years? I went up to the stage to receive the award and my father was sitting right in front of me. The moment I said, 'I'm finally saying hello,' I got emotional all of a sudden."토토사이트

-He is 40 and signed an FA contract, and the conditions are not bad.

"This is my second FA contract, but this is actually my first one. My first FA contract with Lotte focused on extending my career as a player. Back then, I rested for the entire year, so it was important to play baseball again. This time, if I achieve the option without playing for two years, the third year will be automatically guaranteed. I thank the club for their consideration."

-I'm sure you've heard a lot about whether you've already retired from your surroundings.

"I sometimes go to the clothes I used to go to, but when I find a restaurant after a long time, the first thing I ask is, 'What are you doing now? Did you retire?' You'll be surprised if you still say you play. I just think that you really don't watch baseball. But my goal is to throw up to 45."

-In high school, he was also a promising player in the Major League.

"When I was a high school student in Seongnam, I also had a dream to try out for the major leagues. Things didn't go well for me. Even after joining Doosan, I couldn't play an active role for several years and couldn't find a seat in both the first and second teams. I wonder what it would have been like to go to the U.S. right away. Wouldn't he have learned English and had more experience? And I think he could have played better in Korea like Song."

-There's been a few talk of retirement.

"I used to play in the first and second teams at Doosan for a long time. I trained so hard that other schools were rumored to be in middle and high school, but after joining the pro league, I couldn't resist temptation from outside. As I became lazy, I lost my passion. It wasn't until I met coach Kim Jin-wook and coaches Chung Myung-won and Cho Gye-hyun that I learned how to play baseball. I learned mental aspects such as mental strength and confidence from coach Cho, and folk ball from coach Chung. (Coach Cho Kye-hyun personally presented Roh with the Hold King award on Wednesday as chairman of the KBO's National Power Reinforcement Committee.) He also garnered double-digit wins in 2012 and 2013. However, his performance in 2015 was not good, and he wanted to give up baseball due to disagreements with the club over the timing of his surgery. Looking back, it will be a good memory and experience. I am very close with the person concerned at the time."

-The last was not smooth at Lotte, which transferred in a trade instead of retirement.

"At Lotte, I was able to become a free agent by pitching diligently regardless of selection or middle level, but negotiations collapsed. It was a 2.3 billion contract, but the guarantee amount was small. Anyway, I was in a position to accept all the conditions of the club as I did not have much money saved. I made three concessions and asked for one, but the club refused to keep my pride. It was a contract I could not refuse if I had only thought of money, but the fans said I was greedy for money. Eventually, I had a one-year hiatus, but I trained alone at Dongui University so I wouldn't lose my sense of pitching amid the crisis of retirement. Thinking I was playing full-time as a starter, I pitched 100 times every five days, and held on for a year. I returned to Lotte a year later, but at that time, I was really bad. And as the team changed to foster young players, I went in a different direction from what I thought. I was finally released after the season."

-He is in his prime as a bullpen pitcher in SSG, the third team. If there's a secret

"In the last season of Lotte, I focused on boosting the speed of fastballs in the second division. They even asked if the opposing team rejuvenated itself. After being released by Lotte, SSG contacted me first. Former coach Kim Won-hyung gave me a good look. And he is bringing a splendid end to his baseball career. I have been taking care of my physical fitness since Lotte days, but I think it is effective to do it more thoroughly when I come to SSG."

-It was impressive to say that the body doesn't lie

"When I was a middle and high school student, I trained so hard that other schools were rumored to be doing it. It's not like Otani's plan to become a superstar now, but I wrote down my exercise and exercise amount in a notebook and tried to keep it everyday. But as I became an adult after joining a professional team, I became lazy about exercising. I lost my passion. I still regret it and tell my juniors whenever I have time to say, 'I will succeed even if I exercise two-fifths of my time as an amateur.'"

-I heard you have your own routine to build your body

"I set the days when I exercise and the days when I don't, and I followed them thoroughly. On days when I have to exercise, I go home only after exercising even after coming back from my home stadium at dawn. After doing that, I feel light when I come out of bed at home. On the day of throwing the ball, I did only aerobic and simple reinforcement exercises to prepare for the next game, and on the day of consecutive games, I sweat out with aerobic exercise and then lighten my upper body weight. I keep various routines, try new attempts depending on the situation, and then add them to the routine if that's correct. Of course, I don't hide it as my own trade secret, and I tell my juniors my experiences as it is. As for my diet, I eat vegetarian protein properly. In the past, I bulked up with meat.
